Hello! Sorry about the delay updating the site but something broke on the hosting I’m on so I had to do some fixing of things (I’m still fixing it right now actually so the archives may not be working for a while).

Anyway, tonight SCSI AV’s Dez Williams (who I keep mixing up with Daz Quayle) is DJing at Electric City with support from Alan O’Decal so I’m heading along to that because I haven’t been down to Electric City in aaaaggggeeeessss!!

This Friday Radioslave (the DJing incarnation of rock supergroup Audioslave*) are playing at Arveene’s Clampdown night in Traffic, here’s an except from a discussion I was having on another board about them:

ramps: deadly, chris cornell is gorgeous.

Jim A. Morrish: is he not in audioslave? or am i totally confused? are those my feet?

skkatter: Radioslave is the DJ version of Audioslave. I.E. Audioslave is the full band where as Radioslave is just Chris Cornell and Tom Morello DJing back to back. Kind of like Soulwax and 2ManyDJs.

MacFlecknoe: What the hell would they play? Mudhoney and Tad mixed with speeches from Noam Chomsky?

skkatter: I actually downloaded one of their mixes, I’ve lost the link though. Chris Cornell usually mixes in lots of old Soundgarden stuff with some Kaos Pad 2 effects all over it, as well as a bit of Alice in Chains, Screaming Trees and also some of the dancier NIN stuff.

Tom Morello surprisingly is on more of a techno tip, he drops a lot of Maurizio, Basic Channel, dubby stuff but also mixes in a fair bit of Detroit techno from the likes if UR, Motech, Direct Beat etc.

For the last bit of the set they were doing a back to back mashup thing where Chris would play say something from the Singles soundtrack and Tom would mix in a DJ Godfather style booty track over it. Chris does a bit of MCing too, it’s more like screaming though.”

For those of you in Galway this Saturday (it looks like I’ll be too broke to make this unfortunately), one of my favourite producers ever, Tim Wright, is playing live at The Victoria Hotel. John Kavanagh and Frenchie are supporting. I’m surprised and disappointed that no Dublin promoter booked him! Boo Dublin promoters!!

Meanwhile in Dublin this Saturday D1 continutes to rock the Detroit flavoured Casbah in Traffic. Check it!
