Back when I was young and naive I used to think that the weekend started on Friday, usually after a person had finished school, college, their job or that six pack of Dutch Gold they’d been working on in Fairview park all day. Then these Thursday night clubs started popping up around Dublin thus pushing the weekend back one day (they’re also responsible for some horrible hangovers in work on Friday mornings).

But now I’m ready to take it to the next level! Oh yes, the weekend has now been moved yet another day back to Wednesday. Tonight at the Basement Club (which is in the basement, surprise surprise, of Mischief on South William Street) sees the second (or maybe third) night of Junction, a new(ish, man brackets are so in this year!) midweek techno club. This week we’ll have Dave Fields, Stam, Ciaran Mullen and Rob Newman on the decks and I’ll be dropping down to road test my new fancy professional musician’s earplugs (more on them in my next post).

And if that wasn’t enough techno for you, Cathal Tierney (from Shine in Belfast!) will be playing at Electric City tomorrow with support from Dan Power who I haven’t seen out in ages. Despite my lengthy “Traffic is changing music policy” post a while ago it seems that Electric City and D1 may be staying put for the time being, more info when I get it!

Speaking of Electric City, I’ve put up a few photos from the Mick Chillage/Eddie Brennan/Barry Donovan lovefest, er, I mean night. Point your eyes and mouse pointers here. I’ve also put up a little “Electric City Flyers Through The Ages” page here. Thanks to Ruaidhri O’Boyle for lending me most of the flyers. There are a few missing but I’m working on tracking them down!

It might be worth popping down to Hospital in Traffic on Friday to see whether or not it’s still their last night ever. Also well worth checking out is D1’s first international guest in a while, Pure Plastic label runner Mark Broom. Support comes from Eamonn Doyle who’s pretty busy leaving tickets for the various DEAF events into your local record shop. These include tickets to the Galaxy II Galaxy gig in The Village. This is quite possibly the hottest ticket of the frikkin’ year, I thoroughly recommend you go out and buy one of these tickets instantly as they’re are guaranteed to sell out because The Village isn’t a huge venue and seeing so many Underground Resistance legends live in one room is definitely a once in a lifetime event.

Right, I’m outta here! Check out Candy’s website: www.candyculture.net, they link to me in the latest issue of their Candy PDF magazine thingie. Thanks lads!

News just in! I’m going to be DJing at Gravy in Traffic this Sunday so drop down and say hi if you’re about.
