Some important Electric City related news, this Thursday is their last ever night in Traffic. They're going to be taking a few weeks holidays and then will be starting up again on Thursday the 20th of July in a new surprise weekly home that's still a secret right now. Personally I don't really mind what a particular club venue is like as long as there's a decent sound system (and a bar) but I do know that a few people were getting a bit tired of Traffic, so this move is probably a good thing. Electric City have been in Traffic since the 3rd of March 2005 (Pascal FEOS played at their first night there)
And what better way to celebrate their last night in Traffic than with one of the best live techno acts I've ever seen, Neil Landstrumm! His set in Traffic last year was an electronic music hardware fanboy's wet dream, multiple drum machines (including a classic beaten up 909!), samplers and synths along with pages of his own notes he'd written in an effort to maintain control over the hardware, this is proper live techno with not a laptop or an Ableton in sight. Supporting Mr. Landstrumm will be Handsome Jay Galligan and Presentable Simon Conway. Oh yeah, Neil Landstrumm will be bring loads of records/t-shirts/merchandise over to sell, check out his website here for a taster of what is in stock: http://www.scandinavianyc.com/ and email electricitypromotions@eircom.net with your requests if you want a particular size of something. Oh yeah, and check out Electric City's new website, it's pretty flashy! http://www.electricity-dublin.com/
This Friday at Bodkins 2Bit and Lm64 (what's with these number/letter production name combinations?) are both playing live at Ice9 with support from Traktor-wizard Sanf.
Lunar Disko is back on Saturday at The Underground (under Kennedy's pub on Westland Row, the same street that Pierce Street Dart station is on) with Sneak Thief (live) who has released on such italo disco labels as Creme Organization and Gingerbread House Records. Support comes from Funboi and Andy Doyle.
