Plastic-spastik

I've always said that when it comes to dancefloor electronic music. Even if I really like an artist's productions, due to the repetitive nature of the music I find myself getting a tad bored if I have to listen to an hour or more of purely their own stuff. I've always enjoyed Donnacha's live shows, the last time I saw him play was supporting Steve Bug way back in October last year in the TBMC, but I much preferred his DJ set last night down at Wax. Jumping from Ableton Live to vinyl and back again, he managed to encompass a good bit of his own material (the "Infinite Now" track getting the best response I think) as well as an interesting mix of old and new and not just confined to the land of minimal either. It kind of went a bit "greatest hits of techno" near the end (LFO - LFO and Plastikman's Spastik are two have been destroyed for me due to overplaying), but I have applaud his dropping of Speedy J's Something For Your Mind and another Hawtin cut "Plasticity", if only the Minus crew would take a hint and start beefing up their sets with some harder edged selections!

Thanks to everybody who came up and said hello, I've got this nasty throat infection right now so apologies if I wasn't as talkative as usual (being sober didn't help much either!)A few people commented to me that there's not much on gig-wise this weekend, so I thought I'd remind you all that Simon Conway's going to be dropping some cosmic tearjerkers on Saturday night down at The Underground (Kennedy's!) for the 52 Funk guys. He'll be joined by Mossy and things kick off there at 11:30pm, it's a mere five euro (cheaper than the price of a pint in most city centre venues!) before midnight and just seven quid after.
