FSOL - Cascade

Skerries' biggest techno export and fellow gear nerd Donnacha Costello happened to be in Berlin yesterday so we met up for dinner and also popped into the Berlin Mitte Institut Fur Bessere Elektronische Musik studios where Donnacha (or Donnasha as the Europeans like to pronounce it) was being interviewed. These lads run a pretty nifty online radio station from their apartment in Mitte which broadcasts every second monday from 7pm (CET) until whenever they decide to go to bed. A funny interview ensued, one great point which was discussed and stuck in my mind is how having two many choices while producing can sometimes actually hold you bad, meaning you end up wasting time trying to figure out what to use, when if you only had say one simple drum machine and one synth you'd spend more time using them to make tracks and less time thinking "where am I going to get this bass kick from?". Maybe if I got rid of half the stuff I own I'd actually get some proper tracks finished!

The guys were great hosts, I got two free beers! The interview should be up on Youtube soon, I'll post a link when it is, you can hear me laughing in the background!
