"I’ll probably have three copies on three different hard drives, just to be sure to be sure."

And to be Sure To Be Sure, you need to store one of those drives in a different place, It'll be fcuk all use to you if your gaf burns down

Kind of like the dog in a car joke and "Can he put fires out?"

hi skkatter,

I just found my way here by trying to dig up some tracks from the dj food mix (raiding the 20th century). I haven't heard anything from you yet, but that "diddy" snippet i heard was fun.

anyway, I can definitely recommend the rane empath mixer. I've used it a few times and it's great. I usually play with a friends TTM-57 SL (because of the Serato), but the sound and build quality are great, a lot better than any Vestax I ever used. Also the faders are really smooth and nearly indestructible, they'd still work if you drowned them in beer (altough I'd still advise against doing it on purpose).

I sound like a commercial, but I doubt you'll find anyone disagreeing. If you just use conventional sources, go for the empath, if you'd also like to play digital files, try the SL57 first, as of now this is too the best solution for pseudo-vinyl. (compared to DigiScratch & FinalScratch)

Enough of this, I'll go check out some of your mixes now.

The records I'm selling are ones I don't play any more, so I'm not recording them. I'm sure recording and then selling on is probably against the law, just like copying tapes is against the law, not sure if anybody was ever charged for it during the 80s though!

So far I've got two copies of all the music I've recorded, both on different hard drives. It looks like I'm going to be able to fit my current entire record collection on a 750 gig hard drive, so eventually I'll probably have three copies on three different hard drives, just to be sure to be sure.

Isn't recording and then selling on your records slightly dodgy? as in regards to the license to the content, selling second hand goods is a grey area, but having recorded and then sold on the content is probably breaking the law, no?

on a side note,What do you think the life span of the digital media will be? are you gonna make multiple backups of the content? im sure you know the risks involved though, life span of cdr etc? hopefully no harddrive failures, etc
